The smartdept. inc. is in search of a Pre-press Graphic Designer to work for a printing company in Schaumburg, IL. If you have hands-on experience with print production and the pre-press processes, please keep reading! Successful candidate will have large format experience ideally with fleet, as you’ll be designing the graphics that you see on the side of trucks. We’re looking for a team player who can work with other prepress and creative staff on constructive critiques, input and job completion.

What you’ll do:

• Create designs and layouts for specific printed projects

• Execute revisions

• Prepare and create install and manufacturing instruction layouts

• Cleans up supplied art relating to colors, layers and images

• Creates consistent artwork for related projects

• Generates “FPO” images for artwork for initial visual purposes

• Accesses typefaces for each particular job to ensure quality and consistency of work

• Correctly uses identification boxes and forms when creating new artwork

• Creation of PDFs of artwork for client approvals

• Checks for consistency of created artwork to each related SKU

• Checks for file structure and organization of layering within the file

• Proofreads copy for type errors and visually check placement of graphic elements for a successful marketable product

• Produce print ready files for vehicle wraps in scale

• Adjust files to achieve color management standards

• Set up vector information for accurate CNC applications

Must have’s:

• Experience of applying print standards to image content preferred

• Experience working in and maintaining a color managed environment preferred

• Understanding of file types used in print and in digital applications

• Experience in masking techniques

• Understand and utilize Caldera rip system

• Must be proficient with relevant graphic related programs, including PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Word and Excel.

• Must have a thorough understanding of pre-press and digital printing.
