Contract-to-Hire - Hybrid / Full time

smartdept.inc. is searching for a Marketing Events Manager for an international distributor of thermoplastics corporation located in Northbrook, IL. The ideal candidate will come with at least 10 years of experience. This is a full-time contract-hire opportunity. Candidates must be local to Northbrook, IL because this is a hybrid (on-site and remote) position. This position has an hourly rate of $40-$50/hr. dependent on experience. 

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

The Marketing Events Manager will work both independently and collaboratively with the Marketing team to plan and execute meetings and events. They will act as the subject matter expert for all small and large-scale conferences, tradeshows, events and meetings. This role reports to the Senior Manager - Marketing and Communications. 

 

  • Creates and manages the project plan for trade shows/events
  • Negotiates costs and services with vendors and manage trade show budget
  • Manages the planning and logistics for each event
  • Coordinates with marketing team to develop support communications and design assets
  • Negotiates and manages venue, vendor, and reception contracts
  • Coordinates all program elements leading up to and onsite at the Business Conference
  • Works with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to execute cohesive theme, programming, and related activities
  • Manages staff responsible for event coordination and execution
  • Acts as the point person for meetings, receptions, and functions
  • Provides support as needed at golf events and seminars
  • Arranges filming and production for quarterly virtual town hall meetings and webinars
  • Track per-show costs and maintain event budget
  • Lead tracking and reporting
  • Provides post-show recap and reporting

 

 What You’ll Need: 

  • 10+ years of related events planning experience and managing multiple projects
  • B2B marketing experience 
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills to manage multiple events at once
  • Experienced with budgeting all aspects of events
  • A background in tradeshow coordination and management
  • Experience suporting mareting teams to ensure they are equiped with all event assets needed from booth equipment and signage to marketing collateral
  • Adept to make quick decisions to overcome challenges onsite at events. Examples include:
    • communicating with tech vendors for audio equipment
    • coordinating with food and beverage
    • decore - the ability to say "this room looks ugly, let's rent some furniture"
    • seating charts
    • marketing materials 
    • drayage
  • Ability to communicate with Impact; think critically/Strategically; make sound decisions
  • Ability to be the brains behind the curtain without being the star of the event
