smartdept. inc. is searching for a Scrum Master for a corporate client in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will come with 6-10 years of scrum master experience and experience with JIRA. This is a fully remote, contract position that is expected to last 12 months with an opportunity for extension.
What You’ll Do:
The Scrum Master will advise and oversee performance against Agile values, practices, and processes. Working with the Product Owner, the Scrum Master will support the work of the team by maintaining the backlog and facilitating Agile ceremonies; stand ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. The Scrum Master will monitor team performance through the team’s dashboard and help identify continuous improvement opportunities to help the team work better and smarter.
- Facilitate sprint planning, stand ups, retrospectives and other Agile ceremonies
- Ensure work is appropriately balanced across team members and that all work is captured within the backlog
- Review and manage backlog items to ensure it’s being groomed and prioritized
- Apply innovative and creative thinking in order to solve problems and get things done
- Bring a data-driven approach to decision making, both in day-to-day management and in making strategic trade-offs
- Maintain and update process metrics and artifacts to ensure accurate and transparent communications to Product Owner and key stakeholders
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and best practices to progress the team
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience required
- Certified Scrum Master Certification
- 6-10 years scrum master and/or project management experience
- 12+ years of professional work experience
- Experience working with or in Agile teams and understanding of Agile practices
- Excellent communications and people-interaction skills; ability to build collaborative network connections
- Commitment to organization’s new way of working through greater collaboration and breaking down of siloes
- Demonstrate and educate as a deep subject matter expert (SME) in scrum process and tools
- Experience communicating effectively with high levels of management
- Strong experience with JIRA as the primary tool for Agile development
