Product Designer

smartdept. is searching for a Product Designer for an ad agency client located in Berkeley, CA. The ideal candidate will come with 3-5 years of experience. This is a full-time, hybrid, ongoing contract opportunity with the possibility to convert to perm status. 

What You’ll Do: 

• Conduct user research to understand target audience needs, preferences, and pain points.
• Analyze feedback and usability data to inform design decisions.
• Create wireframes, storyboards, and prototypes to visualize design concepts and workflows.
• Use tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar to build interactive prototypes.
• Design aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly interfaces aligned with brand guidelines.
• Develop design systems, style guides, and reusable UI components.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and stakeholders, to deliver designs that align with technical feasibility and project goals.
• Conduct usability testing to gather user feedback and iterate on designs.
• Identify and solve UX problems, such as pain points and usability bottlenecks.

What You’ll Need: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience designing for a large company, preferably in the healthcare industry.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience 
• Strong portfolio showcasing UX/UI design projects, including wireframes, prototypes, and final designs.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
• Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
• Experience with usability testing methods and tools.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and front-end development principles is a plus but not required.
