smartdept. inc. is searching for a Project Manager for a Medical device company in their engineering department. The ideal candidate will come with 4+ years of experience managing product launches and supporting cross-functional engineering teams. This is a full-time, onsite, year-long contract opportunity with the possibility of extension.
Brief Summary:
The Project Manager will lead cross-functional project management for new product development and strategic initiatives. You will be the primary contact point between engineering, field service, technical support, and service operations teams, ensuring smooth product launches and service readiness.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and coordinate project teams through new product introductions and ongoing product sustainment, ensuring effective planning, communication, and risk management
- Create and maintain project schedules and budgets, providing regular updates on status and risks to stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with engineering to drive service requirements into product design, impacting installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance
- Manage a portfolio of projects, organize and run design review meetings, and ensure alignment across business units
- Develop and review domestic and global service strategies throughout project execution and initial product launch
- Drive continuous improvement in project management and product development processes
- Communicate effectively with internal and external partners, bridging different teams and approaches
- Plan for future business needs, including staff planning and organizational strategy
- Provide technical leadership and support best practices in engineering design and execution
What You’ll Need:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific field, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience managing complex capital equipment projects (medical devices or robotics preferred)
- Proven record of product launches as a project manager for field service or service operations
- Experience supporting field service and technical help organizations
- Familiarity with Design for Serviceability or Maintenance (DFS/DFM) best practices
- Experience influencing product development to meet service requirements

- Experience in regulated environments (CFR and ISO knowledge is a plus)
- PMP or other project management certification is a plus

- Experience with medical device regulations
