Content Writer & Strategist

smartdept. is searching for a Content Writer & Strategist for a corporate communications consultancy client. This is a part-time (under 20 hours/week), fully remote contract opportunity with the possibility of a long-term extension.

Our client helps large organizations explain change, tell their stories, and train their people. We're looking for a creative, proactive writer who can turn corporate content into clear, engaging communication, and who is comfortable working directly with clients.

What You'll Do:

• Write creative, engaging corporate training content
• Interview subject matter experts and employees to craft compelling stories
• Write video and audio scripts
• Develop change management communications that explain organizational changes to employees clearly and concisely
• Write occasional social posts and marketing copy
• Work directly with clients and internal team members as a client-facing partner
• Bring ideas forward proactively rather than waiting for direction
• Track time by task for accurate client billing

What You'll Need:

• Education/Experience:
  • Proven experience in corporate communications, internal communications, or change communications
• Strong storytelling and creative writing skills
• Proficiency in the Microsoft ecosystem (Word, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
• Confident, outspoken communicator who is comfortable speaking directly with clients
• Quick learner who can jump into client work with minimal ramp-up
• Comfortable with detailed, task-level time tracking

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with Smart Brevity
• Experience writing for pharmaceutical or technology organizations
• B2C (but they are a B2B), branding, magazine, or industry publication writing background
• Experience with project management or time tracking tools (e.g. Productive)
• Light technical writing experience
