Design Researcher

The Smartdept. Is looking for a Design Researcher for an eCommerce client of ours located in Chicago, IL. The ideal design researcher will come with Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience designing and/or analyzing qualitative user research data and at least 3 years of experience designing and/or analyzing qualitative user research data. This is a full-time, 12 month contract that is scheduled to start remote but will move to onsite at the Chicago office once pandemic corporate policies are put in place.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct generative and evaluative design research studies utilizing a range of methods, including observation/ethnography, diary studies, interviews, usability testing, card sorting, surveys, etc.
• Oversees the entire research process including planning, recruitment, implementation, analysis and reporting.
• Develops research deliverables such as participant screeners, discussion guides, user journeys and research presentations.
• Translates user behaviors and research findings into actionable insights and recommendations to improve the experience across omnichannel touchpoints (e.g., website, app, kiosk, in-store, etc.).

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience designing and/or analyzing qualitative user research data OR a High School Diploma / GED and at least 3 years of experience designing and/or analyzing qualitative user research data.
• Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to facilitate improvement of results and find solutions.
• Knowledge of the digital space.
• Experience building relationships with internal/external partners
• Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
