Senior UX Designer

smartdept.inc. is searching for a Senior UX Designer for a client located in Deerfield, IL. This is a full-time, 1-year contract opportunity. Currently, this is a fully remote position. Candidates must be willing to travel up to 10% to other locations to conduct research or other business purposes (within and out of state). The pay for this position is expected to be $72-83/hour.

What You’ll Do: 

• Creates quality final UX deliverables (e.g. user flow, user journeys, wireframe, and final visual compositions).
• Performs detailed analysis of business and user needs and develops clear UX documentation (templates will be provided).
• Ensures all designs are according to the already established enterprise-level Design System. May recommend changes to styles and patterns, as necessary.
• Participates, contributes to, and presents designs during internal bi-weekly design reviews as well as leading design reviews. Presents and defends concepts with concrete tactical rationale.
• Collaborates on a daily basis with product managers, product owners, business analysts, system analysts, and scrum teams to ensure quality & consistency.
• Follows agreed WOW and UX processes. May recommend changes to the WOW and UX processes, as necessary.
• Strives for innovative solutions understanding platform constraints, and technical & program level limitations. 
• Partners with design authority to ensure suggested solutions meet technical expectations & limitations.
• Participates in documenting UX, WOW, best practices, and design systems.
• Partners with a research team to validate concepts & design solutions.
• Mentors and guides less experienced designers.

What You’ll Need: 

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of design experience with a focus on enterprise ‘productivity’ software, web applications, and mobile apps.
• 8+ years of experience leading research activities & designing, executing, and analyzing qualitative user research data.
• Expert in Figma
• Experience implementing User Centered Methodologies across product development life cycle.
• Experience designing multiple products at the same time, maintaining design consistency.
• Experience creating final UX deliverables, user flows, user journeys, final comps, and other visual artifacts.
• Experience working with project management tools such as Confluence, JIRA, & roadmap planning tools.
• Experience implementing research into the software development process & Teams operating within the Agile framework.
• Experience building relationships with internal/external partners.
• Experience working collaboratively within and across disciplines.
• Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvements in results and find solutions.
• Experience identifying operational issues and leading efforts to improve ways of working and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
• Experience adapting to changes related to product needs and scope.
• Strong critical thinking, analyzing, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
• Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills. 
• Experience in the digital space, software development, store-based research, and/or employee tools is a definite plus.
