Bilingual Copy Editor (German)

smartdept. is searching for a Bilingual Copy Editor (German) for a client of ours. The ideal candidate will come with 5+ years of experience and be fluent in German. This is a project-based, fully remote contract opportunity. 

What You’ll Do: 

• Review English content for the website and translate to German while maintaining proper syntax and message.
• Verify factual accuracy, cultural relevance, and compliance with brand guidelines across all web materials.
• Adapt and refine translated content to ensure it resonates with the target audience while maintaining the original intent.
• Assist with the editing and proofreading of content in German if applicable.

What You’ll Need: 

• Native or near-native fluency in German
• Proven experience as a copywriter, copy editor, proofreader, or similar role, preferably in a bilingual environment.
• Ability to adapt content to different tones, audiences, and platforms.
• Deep understanding of German language nuances, idiomatic expressions, and cultural contexts.
• Portfolio of work required upon submission.
