B2B Copywriter
smartdept. is searching for a B2B Copywriter for a behavioral health and medical products client located in the Chicago area. The ideal candidate will come with 4+ years of experience in B2B copywriting, with a strong preference for those who have worked in healthcare, medical device, or health and wellness product spaces. This is a part-time, remote, ongoing contract opportunity starting at approximately 10 hours per week with the possibility of ramping up based on project volume.
This role goes beyond product descriptions — we're looking for someone who can bring both creative instinct and strategic thinking to behavioral health messaging. The right person knows how to take complex, sensitive subject matter and shape it into compelling, human-centered copy that resonates with B2B buyers.
What You'll Do:
- Write and develop a range of B2B content, including product copy, website and landing page content, marketing materials, and new product launch assets
- Bring creative ideation and content strategy thinking to behavioral health and medical product messaging
- Translate technical product information into clear, benefit-driven copy that connects with healthcare and business decision-makers
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accuracy, brand consistency, and messaging alignment
- Support multi-channel campaigns and initiatives as volume grows
- Contribute to thought leadership and long-form content as needed
What You'll Need:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field preferred
- 4+ years of B2B copywriting experience, ideally in healthcare, medical products, behavioral health, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to write with both creative range and strategic intent — not just execution, but ideation
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience writing for behavioral health, mental health, or medical device brands
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance considerations (knowing what you can and can't say)
- Background in content strategy or brand messaging development
- Experience working on product launches in regulated or technical industries
